Campsites in Cornwall, Devon and throughout the rest of Britain are currently embracing the camping craze sweeping through Europe – glamping!
This new type of outdoor vacation, it’s hoped, will attract a whole new generation who previously may have instead stayed in hotels and hostels or headed to popular beach or city destinations for short breaks.
The title is pretty self-explanatory really – glamping = glamorous camping.
Gone are the days when you have to mess about attempting to put up your own tent only to fail misery. Gone are the days when you have to sleep on the rock-hard floor of a tent. Gone are the days when you have to endure a leaky tent. Gone are the days when camping was uncomfortable.
Basically, glamping is everything that’s great about camping, just without any downsides.
Sleep in a comfy bed, enjoy excellent cooking facilities and have access to heating so you and your fellow glampers can stay warm and, more importantly, stay happy out in the great outdoors.
What do I need to go glamping?
Answer – very little!
The great thing about glamping is that you don’t need to spend a fortune on equipment such as a tent, which can be quite expensive, to get involved.
Accommodation can differ from camping pods, yurts and tipis to wigwams, each offering a level of luxury previously lacking when compared to traditional camping.
Pack plenty of layers just in case and remember to take enough food to keep you fuelled up for your stay.
Where can I go glamping?
There are camp sites across Britain and right across Europe that now offer people the complete glamping experience.
Picking where to glamp can on the surface seem difficult, but customer reviews about glamping with Pitch Up and other online resources are widely available and will prove valuable.
Read as many online reviews as possible to try and get a feeling for a particular site and be sure to check out what facilities the different sites offer and how close they are to any local attractions you may want to visit.
How much does it cost to go glamping?
Prices differ depending on where you go, when you go, how long you stay for, the size of the party you’re vacationing with and what type of accommodation you decide to stay in. Last-minute deals may be available online, so keep your eyes peeled.
